Distortion – Original Painting

“Distortion” is an 8×10 canvas where I used the flip cup method with my fluid acrylic paint. I dumped a bunch of colors in a cup and flipped it upside down onto the canvas. I let the cup sit for a moment to let the colors drain to the bottom and when I lifted, all the paint spilled out and I tiled the canvas to cover it. I did a little bit of scraping on the edges and blew out some small tendrils of color with air to achieve this final result. It just reminded me of a kind of psychedelic distortion from a hologram or something from TV. The yellow lacing on top of the purple is my favorite part about this piece.
